‘My daughter has been at Unit One Kids for a couple of months and despite my initial worries about whether she would settle, she has done so brilliantly. The staff are all so friendly and nurturing. I receive regular updates throughout the day via the Nursery Story app including nappy changes, meals/snacks, naps and observations of what’s she’s been doing, which is always lovely to see. Thank you Niki and the rest of the team.’

Understanding Stretched and Term-Time Funding at Unit One Kids
At Unit One Kids, we aim to make childcare funding as flexible and manageable as possible for families. Here’s how our stretched funding and term-time funding options work, along with our standard rates. (We have places for 15 and 30 hours funded)
What is Stretched Funding?
Government-funded hours traditionally cover 38 weeks of term-time each year. At Unit One Kids, we offer families the option to 'stretch' these funded hours over 50 weeks, with 2 non-funded weeks (in April and December).
How Stretched Funding Works:
-
15 hours funding stretched over 50 weeks = Up to 11.4 hours per week
-
30 hours funding stretched over 50 weeks = Up to 22.8 hours per week
(Exact hours may vary depending on Local Authority guidelines.)
Benefits of Stretched Funding:
-
For Children: A consistent routine throughout the year helps your child settle and thrive in a familiar environment.
-
For Parents: Weekly fees remain consistent, making it easier to manage your budget.
What is Term-Time Funding?
With term-time funding, government-funded hours apply to the standard 38 weeks of term time only.
How Term-Time Funding Works:
-
Government funding covers your child’s entitlement for 38 weeks.
-
For the remaining 14 weeks of the year, you’ll pay the full fees.
Families pay for additional hours during term time and full fees during the non-funded weeks.
Which Option is Right for You?
Our team at Unit One Kids is here to help you decide the best funding option to suit your family’s needs. Whether you choose stretched funding or term-time funding, we’re committed to providing flexible, high-quality childcare.
